Goerg & Schneider - your reliable neighbour

Clay is a natural product, the “white gold of the Westerwald“. Since 1924 we have been mining and processing this raw material for a wide range of uses and custom applications. Goerg & Schneider – a "down-to-earth" company in the true sense of the meaning - is your reliable partner next door. We see ourselves as an employer who trains and supports junior staff as well as an investor and client for service providers and manufacturers in the region.  We are aware of our responsibility to give something back to the community and so our tax money is used to fund public projects and ventures and at the same time we engage in sponsorships for regional sports clubs and events. We take our corporate social responsibility very serious. We donate to charity and welfare programmes and support associations and initiatives striving for the common good.

Goerg & Schneider attaches great importance to energy efficiency. Since 2012, we have been working according to an official energy management system. In that same year, we were awarded with the Rhineland-Palatinate Raw Material Prize. We use state-of-the-art machinery, vehicles and systems and rely on the latest interdisciplinary technology.

All electrical devices are subject to an ongoing maintenance regime and we use LED technology, energy-saving lamps and motion detectors for our lighting systems.

Our newly built head office is a low-energy building and is heated, ventilated and cooled by an air heat pump system. Other buildings on our premises have been thermally optimized.

Through adapted product design, optimized processes and reusable big bags and pallets, the company has been able to minimize packaging materials considerably - in line with the requirements stipulated in the packaging regulation. With the investment in a new shrink winder, the consumption of foils could be lowered significantly.

The raw clays are transported to the customer by truck, inland vessel and railway wagon via the company's own railway siding. Photovoltaic systems were already installed in 2004 and 2006. To further reduce the carbon footprint, we are investing in other PV systems on company roofs. The purchase of a battery storage and the cooperation with a local energy-cooperative enhances our own power supply through regenerative energies in our plant in Boden.

The European minerals sector is one that faces stringent environmental regulations. Authorization procedures are often very long and tedious and entail various statutory requirements such as Environmental Impact Assessments and restoration plans. Goerg & Schneider seeks to cause minimum disturbance to the surrounding communities by limiting the impact of our operations. The protection and preservation of the environment is one of the key priorities on our agenda before, during and after extraction.
